Mailbox Monday

MailBoxIt’s that time again — time for me to tell you about all the goodies that I got in the mail last week. This meme is pretty fun, actually — thanks to Marcia over at The Printed Page for starting it all off!

Didn’t get a lot of new stuff last week — I’m trying to catch up on my reading, so I’m getting really picky about any new additions. After all, I’ve now got ten books sitting on the “You Have To Review This Book shelf, so I’ve got some work to do! One new book last week, and one so far this week (which you’ll hear about next Monday).

083083852X.01._SX140_SY225_SCLZZZZZZZ_Bringing Theology to Life is more than a title; it’s what I really want to do. Don’t get me wrong, I love academic study of theology, but if that’s all there is, then we’re wasting our time. Theology has to inform our daily lives — that’s one of the first things I learned when I took my first systematic theology class at Southern. I’m all about books that take theological concepts and make them accessible to the average reader (tune in tomorrow for a review of an awesome book that does exactly that). Darren Marks has written a book that promises to put basic, essential Christian doctrines in terms that everyone can understand; I especially like the fact that there are discussion questions at the end of each chapter. This one may become a sermon series of evening Bible study at church.

  1. I’m a little slow checking out everyone’s list this week. You have an interesting book, I look forward to hearing what your thoughts are about it! My mailbox is here!
